It is taken for granted that the question asked by M. X. X., relative to the healing efficacy of Christian Science, is a sincere question, and therefore I ask that you publish this reply. The inquirer is an ex-soldier. He states that he is pronounced by "the best doctors as incurable," and he seems inclined to want to know from the "Christian Science readers" of your paper whether they think Christian Science can heal him. Christian Scientists believe sincerely the teachings of Scripture that "with God all things are possible," and that "the prayer of faith shall save the sick." Inasmuch as the applied teachings of Christian Science have already healed thousands of people of organic and functional diseases, many of which were considered to be incurable from the standpoint of medical diagnoses, your inquirer, if sincere, may well turn to Christian Science with hope.
He states in the preface to his question that the idea of Christian Science has never appealed to him as "being either Christian or science." Many people with the same preconceived notion have found this Christian ministry to be both Christian and scientific. It not only heals the sick, but also brings comfort in sorrow and distress, and regeneration from sin, even according to the teachings of the Master, Christ Jesus. Any sincere seeker of the truth about Christian Science may find it through its authorized channels, that is to say, through attending the Christian Science church services, and by reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which may be borrowed or purchased at any Christian Science Reading Room. Authentic information may be procured from any earnest student of Christian Science.
