In praise and gratitude for the great gift of Christian Science,...
In praise and gratitude for the great gift of Christian Science, as perceived and given to the world by that grand and noble woman, Mary Baker Eddy, I wish to add my testimony.
My first acquaintance with this religion came through the healing of my little daughter, twenty-three years ago, from what the physicians termed appendicitis, extending over a period of two years. A neighbor, learning that the physicians offered no hope, mentioned Christian Science to me, and lovingly urged that it could do no harm to try it. I had never heard of Christian Science before, but decided to give it a trial. Two present treatments were given, followed by a week of absent help, with the result that the child was restored to health and I was lifted out of a long mental strain. No information was given concerning Christian Science, and no mention of any literature was made by the practitioner; and as objections were made by a dear one to any further investigation, I did not learn the method of healing. But I knew that it was what I wanted, and that I had touched the hem of Christ's garment.
Ten years later, when I moved to a large western city, my present home, I was overjoyed to learn of a Christian Science church. On attending the first service I knew that I had found what my heart so long had sought, and eagerly I drank deep spiritual drafts from this source.
