Divine Love's Sufficiency

It was Isaiah who wrote of God, "I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." It was John who said, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." And it was the beloved Master himself who uttered the words, "Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him." These and many other sayings in the Bible testify to the great truth, which Christian Science maintains as central to its teaching,—namely, that God is Love!

The student of Christian Science soon becomes convinced that divine Love has no taint of error about it; for he quickly learns that Love is divine Principle, the absolutely perfect spiritual cause of all that exists. None of the weaknesses, therefore, of the so-called human mind can ever be associated with divine Love, which is always reliable, always dependable. Moreover, divine Love is all-powerful, existing as it does without an opposite in reality.

As the allness of divine Love is apprehended or understood, the marvelous nature of the real creation becomes apparent. One begins to sense the truth that the real creation, which is always under the government of divine Principle or Love, must be perfectly governed, and therefore always perfectly protected. At the same time it becomes plain that the inharmony which mankind seems to experience can have no reality, since Love is the one infinite governing Principle. Thus, as the student's understanding of Truth increases, he is proportionably the better able to reject the suggestions of evil which in belief assail him, and so to find himself demonstrating the sufficiency of divine Love.
