It is four years since I turned to Christian Science for healing, and I am indeed grateful for the change that has taken place. Then I was a mentally depressed invalid; now I am a happy, useful woman. For two years and a half previous to this time I was in a miserable condition, due to a nervous breakdown following an operation. I was under the care of many doctors, spent months in two different sanitariums, and also went to a warmer climate in search of health. At times I would seem to be getting better and would be up and around for a few weeks; but even then I could not do the lightest kind of work, nor could I read. It seemed to make me more nervous to try to concentrate my thought on anything. I was so depressed at times that I thought I should lose my reason.

Having exhausted material means of relief, I decided to give Christian Science a trial, in accordance with my husband's wishes. We engaged a practitioner, and I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I found to my surprise that I could read without the bad effects that I had experienced before when reading. Some days, though, I was too exhausted to read, and then that little prayer by Mrs. Eddy from "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 400),
