Six years ago Christian Science was brought to me; and while I was not at the time in need of physical healing, I was in a state of darkness, discouragement, and hopelessness, amounting to despair. When a sense of gratitude is filling one's consciousness, one is prone to look back for comparison; and when I realize how the sense of gloom has been lifted, I cannot be thankful enough.

I have had several physical healings. A burn caused by boiling water was healed almost instantaneously. My daughter had an attack of influenza during the so-called epidemic, and had no treatment but Christian Science. Also, I have been cured of headaches (which I never have now), indigestion, colds, and other ills. These healings, as they have been effected, have left me with a wonderful sense of dominion and power, and of God's protection; but it is not for them alone that I am grateful. I am also grateful for the removal of fear, even the usually great fear of death, as the real meaning of Life, of Love, of God, has been awakened in my consciousness; and for the confidence and ability, and above all for the peace "which passeth all understanding," for which my gratitude is boundless.
