Proof of Healing

The whole world wants healing; the whole world has need of healing, and the whole world is striving for it as never before. By healing we do not mean merely the curing of bodily ills, but that larger healing which is described in Webster's dictionary as restoring "to original purity or integrity." Humanity is coming to see that it has a divine right to regain that state of purity and integrity which is so wondrously described in the first chapter of Genesis, and which in reality has never been lost, but only obscured by the mists of false belief.

How to gain this desideratum has been and is worthy of mankind's most earnest endeavors. The process is simple, and the results are sure. It comes, as all good has come to the world, as a result of obedience to law. The mathematician obtains correct results through his obedience to the laws of mathematics. The musician obtains harmony by obeying the laws of music. It is not otherwise in the field of Christian healing. We must obey the law of God to gain His blessing. Our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, tells us (p. 149), "If you fail to succeed in any case, it is because you have not demonstrated the life of Christ, Truth, more in your own life,—because you have not obeyed the rule and proved the Principle of divine Science."

True law has always two characteristics; namely, universality and permanence. A law which applies in one place and not in another, or which acts at one time and fails to act at another, is not law at all; for there is nothing spasmodic, intermittent, or localized about God's law. What has brought healing once will bring it again; for the rule is eternal and infallible. What the prophets and apostles of old achieved, we can accomplish to-day, if we follow the same rule and method. This is not presumptuous on our part; but rather is it a manifestation of true humility. What the healers of old demonstrated resulted from their obedience to God's law; and, as His law is unchanging and unchangeable, a righteous application of it will always bring healing, redemption, and deliverance.
