The endurance and magnitude of the Christian Science...

Daily Argus-Leader

The endurance and magnitude of the Christian Science movement is proof that its healings are not limited to "nervous disorders." That it heals both functional and organic disorders of the body, and also sin, is so firmly established that it is not debatable. Your city abounds in well-authenticated cases. That this healing is accomplished by spiritual, not psychological, means, is shown by the fact that no psychologist is able to duplicate it.

Christian Science does not deny the existence of a personal God, but teaches that God is infinite Person. But, while God made man in His own image and likeness, it by no means follows that God is anything like any person known to human experience. The human or carnal mind, which, like the fountain, can rise no higher than its source, imagines God as a mighty Deity in an exalted human form, and with the better human senses and attributes; but this is not the true conception of God, "whom to know aright is Life eternal" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii). The infinite and omnipresent God cannot be fashioned in the form of any person within the conception of the human senses. Rather than pattern the perfect and infinite God after erring mortal man, we should seek to see the real man made after the infinite and perfect pattern.

To understand the Trinity and Atonement, it must be recognized that the Christ is the divine manifestation of God, which enabled the corporeal Jesus to be the Wayshower in overcoming sin and death; and by this atonement or at-one-ment with God to bring to light the immortality and unity of man with God.
