I have been helped so much by the testimonies in the Journal that I feel I also ought to try to help others. Christian Science was presented to me in the winter of 1915, by an acquaintance who had been healed of a long standing malady. It appealed to me at once, and when I started reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I could not leave it for any other book, but read it right through, with the result that my health improved wonderfully, and I am now much stronger than I have ever been.
As a child I suffered from St. Vitus' dance, and afterward from epilepsy for many years. This has now disappeared, as a result, I believe, of the understanding I have gained through reading Science and Health and other Christian Science literature, as I have not taken any material remedies since 1915. One of the earliest demonstrations I had was in being able to leave off glasses for reading which I had worn for some time, but never require now, for I am able to read the smallest print without them; and one for which I am most grateful was the restoration of my hearing, through the kind help of a practitioner. My hearing had gradually been getting worse for about twelve months, but much to my joy, in ten days' time after seeking help from a practitioner, I suddenly found I could hear the clock tick again with the ear that had been deaf.
I have also been healed of a clot of blood on the eye, and of wasp stings. Bruises from a severe fall have been quickly overcome; also the fear of sleeping alone, which had troubled me all my life. Christian Science has also been the greatest comfort in times of sorrow, and I can never express how thankful I am for it. I am endeavoring to understand it better, and to reflect its teaching in my daily life.
