I heard about Christian Science many years ago, and my gratitude for this wonderful truth is inexpressible. From childhood I had been an invalid with affected lungs and a very weak constitution, and at last the doctors told me that in order to preserve my life, I would always have to think of my body, and be very careful about myself, never to be out in rough weather, nor to work. Then I heard about Christian Science, and its rules for regaining and preserving health were very different from what I had been used to. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy taught me how "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord," and gradually the meaning of these words dawned upon me, and I began to understand a little of the unchanging law of Spirit, Life, and of Principle, and the nothingness of matter. As I gained understanding I gained health, till finally every trace of weakness had disappeared and I am now a healthy, happy woman, rejoicing every day in knowing that "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." I am sincerely grateful for the wonderful truth Mrs. Eddy has unfolded in Science and Health, and also for the periodicals she established for us. They always give light and bring the right answer at the right time. I have witnessed the blessings and healings they carry to remote corners of the earth, where seekers after Truth, through these channels of love, have received the "cup of cold water" they were in need of.
