When I first learned of Christian Science I was very antagonistic to it. My father read it with great pleasure and received wonderful inspiration, but when he passed on, his books were put away through respect to him and were not disturbed until ten years afterward. My sister and I were both in need of physical healing. I called on a practitioner and began to read and study earnestly "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary baker Eddy. I was a nervous wreck and was afraid of everything, but this was overcome and I now enjoy some measure of "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding."
One of my daughters was perfectly healed of tonsillitis that affected her sight, speech, and hearing. Through God's protecting love my husband is now a happy, healthy man after the verdict of the medical doctors had limited his life to only a few days. Many other demonstrations of healing have been made in our home, and we are very thankful for all. Christian Science has helped me to overcome self-will, self-pity, and other sins that so easily beset us. It is my sincere desire to live in accord with the life of the Master, and to be of service to those with whom I come in contact. When I think of Mrs. Eddy's great love for suffering humanity and her wise provisions in establishing the Church reading rooms and the Christian Science literature it is a joy and privilege to send my testimony to the Sentinel.
I am grateful for membership in a Society, also in The Mother Church. My steps of progress have seemingly been slow but I rejoice in the overcoming of mortal sense with spiritual understanding. I am grateful to the practitioners and friends who have so lovingly helped me in my first efforts to know that God is All-in-all.
