Four years ago I knew nothing of Christian Science

Four years ago I knew nothing of Christian Science. Since then I have been healed of a lifelong habit of using profane and unseemly language. This habit I had tried to throw off, but my efforts were unsuccessful. I came into Christian Science for the loaves and fishes, not desiring to become a Christian nor to change my mode of life; but I decided that the least that could be done would be to stop this unkind habit if I really expected help, and in my efforts to do so, covering a period of several weeks, I awakened to the fact that "desire is prayer" (Science and Health, p. 1), and that I had been praying ceaselessly. In early youth I had decided that I would never pray again, so this revelation came as a decided shock to me and also a great joy. Numerous physical troubles, for which at times medical help had been necessary, have yielded to the truth and I have been healed of all desire for alcoholic drink. This habit had gained a very strong hold on me. For four years now I have depended absolutely on God's healing power, and it has never failed.

I am grateful every day for this sustaining truth and thankful to God for Mrs. Eddy. No one can read "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur without having his love and appreciation for her selflessness greatly amplified. She indeed trod alone her loving pathway, and great must be her reward.
