In a recent issue there appeared an article entitled "Evangelism Every Christian's Business," copied from one of the church magazines. The writer of the article, in referring to the rapid growth of the Christian Science church, takes occasion to class it with Russellism, and goes on to say: "The secret of its success is to be attributed largely to the fact that every one of its members is a propagandist. False faiths will flourish by the zeal of those who hold them, while proved truths lie dormant in the minds of the orthodox who feel themselves under no compulsion to spread them."

Many opponents of Christian Science are constantly striving to confuse the public mind by trying to associate Christian Science with other movements, while as a matter of fact Christian Science has nothing in common with any of these. We offer no criticism of other religious beliefs, but we ask for ourselves the same right that we unreservedly grant to others,—the right to worship God in our own way,—and are perfectly willing for the public to judge Christian Science on its own merits. We are propagandists in the sense that we are always ready to explain the reasons for our faith to any who are seeking for the truth; our propagational methods are dignified and unobtrusive. Our church is not urgent with respect to members, nor do we seek to force our opinions or beliefs on our neighbors.

As to the implication that Christian Science is a "false faith," and that certain sects have a monopoly on "proved truths," Christ Jesus himself left an infallible rule for proving the truth or falsity of any doctrine or belief when he said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Christian Science owes its wonderful growth to the fact that its adherents are today proving their faith by their works, and bringing health and happiness to thousands who have sought in vain for relief through material means.
