I have long desired to tell what the healing influence of Christian Science has done for me. For ten years I was a great sufferer, and was weary and hopeless. During those years I had been treated by nine different physicians and surgeons, all of whom failed to give me any permanent relief. Eleven years ago, when a friend asked me to give Christian Science a trial, I had been very ill for eight months with what was said to be a tubercular affection of the bowels, which had refused to yield to every kind of treatment available, and I was almost in despair.

I had never heard of Christian Science before, but after a little consideration I asked for treatment, and it was given me. I felt relief very soon, and this seemed to give promise of final healing. Then I began to read Science and Health, which gave me confidence and sustained me through a slow though sometimes discouraging struggle with error; but I continued to study, and finally found my way clear as I gained more understanding of Truth and a more practical knowledge of good and its activities. I was healed of the intestinal trouble, also of pleurisy, biliousness, and an imperfect sense of sight, as well as of the effects of a surgical operation from which it was not expected that I could ever fully recover, besides other physical ills.

Mrs. Eddy has said in reference to the healing quality of Christian Science, that "its pharmacy is moral, and its medicine is intellectual and spiritual, though used for physicalhealing" (Science and Health, p. 460). I am humbly grateful for the degree of moral and spiritual health which is being revealed to me from day to day in proportion as I assimilate and reflect the truth.
