As a church Christian Scientists take no action in the matter...

Cincinnati (Ohio) Enquirer

As a church Christian Scientists take no action in the matter of a so-called national health department. As individuals they are raising their voices in behalf of personal freedom and against all oppressive state and national laws. They believe that the establishment of such a department, advocated so strongly by one school of medicine, violates the fundamental principle of our government, which declares that man is endowed with certain inalienable rights, among which are "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

It is far from correct to say that the only opposition to the national health department comes from Christian Scientists. The National League for Medical Freedom, for instance, includes representatives of every school of medicine and healing who are opposed to medical tyranny, as well as eminent scholars, statesmen, well-known business and professional men, and even physicians belonging to Dr. Reed's own school of medicine.
