It is unfortunate that a clergyman in his endeavors to help humanity has found it necessary to attack other Christian organizations, that he might build up the one with which he has associated his faith. In his attempts to do good, our reverend critic might profit by the words of the great Jewish counselor, Gamaliel, who said: "Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. ... Let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to naught: but if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God."

For one to be a true critic he must have a thorough knowledge of the subject critcized. By reason of our critic's misconception of Christian Science, he is unable to demonstrate its teachings, and his attack does not disprove that Christian Science is the word of God demonstrated to this age. Christ Jesus demonstrated that the sinner and the sick are healed by the same process when he said (regarding the man sick of the palsy): "For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?" It was Jesus' understanding of the spiritual law of cause and effect that enabled him to perform his ministry in the healing of the sick as well as the saving of sinners; hence the importance of his words to him that believeth: "The works that I do shall he do also."

Truth is unchangeable, and a spiritual knowledge of God as Truth, as unchanging Life and Love, perpetually and eternally governing all that He has made (and He is the only creator), must necessarily perform the same works today as in Jesus' time; hence the command, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel," "Heal the sick," is as imperative now as when spoken by the Nazarene. The Scripture also says, "By their fruits ye shall know them."
