Some one has said that Christian Science is the unfolding...
Some one has said that Christian Science is the unfolding of good in individual consciousness, and my experience is that the statement is true. About six years ago I was in the hands of doctors, trying in their way to regain my health. They were good, conscientious men, and most anxious to bring relief from suffering, but their efforts proved most discouraging and their statements very depressing. The constant changing of remedies was disheartening, but it had the effect of showing me the lack in all their endeavors. I, no doubt like many others, looked at the rows of bottles at the druggist's, and wondered if there was not some one who was wise enough to select the remedy which would bring relief to me—a relief that would so gladly be paid for in gratitude as well as money. I made several changes of doctors, vainly trying to find the one who knew enough to go direct to the remedy and prescribe it, and absolutely certain as to its healing results.
Then in that darkest hour, when clouds were lowest and human frailty was most in evidence, there came through a dear friend just a very small gleam of that light "which lighteth every man that cometh into the world;" and it came to me through the promises in Christian Science, promises proved true in untold instances since then. I have proved that discord of every kind and nature is overcome by the application of the Christ-way, the only way,—the way of health and peace, as can be demonstrated every day and every hour in shop, store, or counting-room. I rejoice in the knowledge that divine Principle governs man and the universe, not partially but wholly, not sometimes but all times, not somewhere but everywhere,—that we can be free indeed and know and demonstrate that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
I am deeply grateful to the giver of all good, to the master Christian, our Saviour, also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose obedience to God's law is so well worthy of our emulation.—Lewis S. Iliff, Indianapolis, Ind.
