THE LECTURES

Willis F. Gross delivered a lecture on Christian Science at Beethoven hall before an audience of about fifteen hundred people. Judge J. D. Guinn, a prominent lawyer of San Antonio, introduced the lecturer, and said:—

I feel very keenly the compliment conferred on me by the local church in requesting me to introduce the lecturer on this occasion. As an evidence of my appreciation I will be very brief, and not tire you with a dissertation on this wonderful form of religious worship, because, first, I am not equal to the occasion, and second, Christian Science does not require any recommendation or encomium from me. It is here without my assistance and it has undoubtedly come to stay, and this in the face of many obstructions. Its growth has been marvelously rapid, and it is favorably known throughout the civilized world. Everywhere there is an earnest, honest desire to know and understand something of the truth which makes for health and happiness. Christian Science shows us the road in a simple and unostentatious way. This church, so far as I know, has no isms or creeds. It simply points to God and trusts Him for everything.—Correspondence.
