It is with a heart full of gratitude and a sincere desire that my words may lighten the path of another, that I join the throng of those who are testifying to the healing power of Truth and Love. Christian Science was presented to me six years ago, and when I think of the many blessings which it has brought to me, I realize how tardy I have been in making a public declaration of it.
I was healed of chronic female trouble through reading the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I had been miserable for eight years, although we spent money continually for medicines and doctors. Finally, as a last resort, I went through two very serious operations. I was in the sanitarium four months, and when I came away from there I was a mere shadow and so weak and nervous that I could not even life a chair. Indeed, I was in a much worse condition after I came out of the sanitarium than when I went in. I also had more ailments, as my stomach was all out of order on account of the medicines which had been given me.
We were living at that time in the country, my husband being a successful farmer, but it took all he made and more to pay for medicines and doctors, as I had three of the best there were, all being specialists; so that we got badly in debt and were fast going down hill. We dragged along in this way for about a year and a half after the operations, and I was in a terrible condition when a lady who was a Christian Scientist moved into the neighborhood. She heard of my illness, and of course wanted us to try Christian Science, as she had been healed of chronic trouble by its means. We did not, however, take to it, as I did not understand it. and we would even go out of our way to avoid meeting the lady, as she talked so much about Science.
