I have long delayed the privilege and duty of adding my testimony to the blessing that Christian Science has been in my household. It is difficult to realize the greatness of the mission of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and how wonderful it is that the world has taken time to listen to her message and investigate Christian Science. Our eyes were first opened to this truth by the healing of my brother, who had been a sufferer from what is called "rose-cold and hay-fever" for at least eighteen years. His cure seemed too good to be true, for we thought he would never be healed, as he had never experienced any relief from medicine. I read Science and Health to him, though I did not at first do it willingly; but I felt it a duty, as his sight had been very imperfect from birth, although it is much improved at this writing. To tell of the wonderful healings in our home, and those outside whom we have been able to help, is our keenest, purest joy.

One experience I will never forget was my first demonstration in Christian Science. Now, when I think of it, it seems so natural to go to God, and how good it is to be sure that He hears! My baby niece, whom I have cared for all her life (as her mother passed out before she could walk, and before we came to understand that God is so good), was subject to frequent attacks of biliousness, fever, etc. Our family doctor agreed that they were growing more severe every time the trouble came on. One Sunday afternoon she was taken ill, and we were all much distressed about it, for she had had a very severe attack only a few weeks before. The doctor said that if he could not soon reduce the fever, he should consider it very serious. I spoke of Christian Science, but the baby's father did not reply. He was patient all the afternoon and early part of the evening, during which time we had endeavored to get a practitioner by telephone, but could not get into communication with any one. The fever seemed to be getting worse all the time, and how I did pray, and read, and cry to God, for He seemed so far off.

At half-past eight the child's father went to the doctor's office for medicine, and how we did improve our time while he was gone! When he came back, he prepared a dose of medicine and asked the child to take it, but as soon as her lips touched the glass, she fell back on her pillow, declaring that she was getting better till her papa tried to make her take the medicine. Strange to say, he did not compel her to take it, but set about working in Christian Science, as the child wished us to read more out of Science and Health. We did this till twelve that night, then all retired, as with one accord. The two or three who had gathered together in Christ's name had been heard, their prayers had been answered. All slept until daylight, but as soon as I awoke I remembered our experience, and, thank God, our baby was healed! She said so herself, and indeed it was true. She asked for breakfast, which she ate with a relish, and her father praised God with the rest of the family.
