As the years come round one naturally pauses, begins to think, then counts one's blessings. As I owe so much to Christian Science, gratitude prompts me to acknowledge what a great help it has been to me in every way. Although for over nine years it has been my only medicine, and there have been many demonstrations over physical ills of different kinds (these we know to be proofs of the truth we profess), still this seems only the smaller blessing. The greater one is the moral regeneration expressed in purifecation of character, in learning to be more unselfish, more considerate for others, less self-indulgent, in learning to control temper and to be gentle, kind, and always to be ready to help those in need, even if this is inconvenient at the time; and to be shown the right way to attain this is indeed cause for thankfulness.

Many times the way has seemed dark and rough, but by holding fast to Truth, and refusing to yield to discouragement, by pressing on and putting into practice what I knew, the difficulty was overcome, or rather banished into its native nothingness. I have often been tempted to think environment had much to do with preventing my advance, but when one realize that one lives in the omnipresent consciousness of good, and that evil has no power, nothing can stop one's coming into the light, into a fuller understanding of the true Science of being. "One on God's side is a majority," so there is nothing to fear, wherever we may find ourselves.

Being a great lover of animals, it is a great joy to see how they respond to the thought of truth which is held for them. In treating them I have had proofs of the effectiveness of Christian Science, various ailments having been entirely healed. Words are poor expressions of gratitude; the best way to show it is so to live as to prove it, dear this is my gerat desire. I am indeed grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having given us this great truth, and for having shown us the way by her beautiful life, which remains an example and encouragement for us all.—Mrs. Charlotte F. Brooks, London, England.
