As one of the many who have been benefited by Christian Science,...
As one of the many who have been benefited by Christian Science, I wish to add my thanks to God and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for what it has done foe me. Fifteen years ago I was thrown from a bicycle, striking on my right knee and hip. At the time I did not think I had been injured very severely, although I suffered considerable pain and had to use a cane in walking. For many weeks I tried simple remedies with no relief, and finally I went to a physician and was treated for several months without any good results. I tried other physicians, electricity, and everything that was suggested to me, with no relief. This condition continued for fourteen years, and I had about given up hope of ever being able to walk again without the cane I had used all this time.
Through friends I was induced to try Christian Science. While I had heard considerable of what had been done by it, I did not think it could cure or help an injury such as I had received, and at this time the limb had shortened about an inch. I, however, decided to give it a trial; and I thank God that I did, for after the second treatment I began to improve and in twelve weeks I was able to throw away my cane, as on May 12, 1909, I went to Wednesday night meeting without it. I have continued to improve ever since, and expect to have the limb attain its normal length.—George W. Farwell, Oakland, Cal.
Two years ago I underwent a serious operation, which left me a nervous and physical Week. Life did not seem worth the living and I felt that I was a burden to myself and the rest of the family. When the physician said the only thing he knew that would benefit me was a three-months ocean trip (and this was an utter impossibility), I turned to Christian Science, and my voyage was a walk of two blocks each morning to the home of the practitioner, where I read the Lesson-Sermon. In a short time I felt like a new person; the severe headaches were gone, and I continued to improve until those of my immediate friends who were sure the change was but temporary were forced to admit that there was something in Christian Science. I was also healed in one treatment of severe hemorrhages of the bowels, by this same practitioner.
