THE LECTURES

At First Church of Christ, Scientist, on Monday evening [Sept. 12], the Hon. Clarence A. Buskirk delivered a lecture on Christian Science. The speaker was introduced by Miss Alice G. Potter, who spoke as follows:—

We rejoice in the opportunity to share with you the message of truth which our lecturer brings to us this evening. It is our hope that you may hear his message with the "hearing ear"—with the receptivity which is born of a desire for truth for truth's sake; and that any misunderstanding which may lurk in consciousness regarding the teaching and practice of Christian Science may be replaced by a clearer understanding of the divine Principle upon which our religion is based.

Love—spiritual, perfect, changeless—is this Principle, and in proportion to their understanding of and direct dependence upon divine Love, Christian Scientists are today fulfilling the saying of Christ Jesus, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;" and "By their fruits ye shall know them," for the sick and sinning are being healed, and those dwelling in the valley of the shadow of materialism are being raised to a higher sense of Life, and all because of the selfless love and wise guidance of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Is it surprising that we desire to share that which has blessed us, with all who will receive?—Rome Sentinel.
