Christian Science has brought me, not only physical...
Christian Science has brought me, not only physical healing, but the healing of sin, for which I am deeply thankful. Three years ago a Scientist who was visiting in my home told me of a case of healing that seemed very wonderful. As I had heard very little of Christian Science, I began to ask this friend questions and she gave me a practitioner's address. I had been under the care of physicians for over ten years, undergoing one operation, and as a last resort was trying electricity, with the hope that another operation would not be necessary. During this time I had moved from the city into the country, and at the time that I heard of Christian Science I was going into the city once a week for electrical treatments, coming home each time worn-out and discouraged.
I dreaded these trips greatly and seemed to be growing worse all the time. Accordingly, after getting the practitioner's address, I decided to try Christian Science. I did so, was given a treatment, and in six weeks I was healed. The practitioner gave me some pamphlets, and I become so interested in them that I was sorry when my journey was ended that night. It was the same trip that only the week before had seemed so hard, but this time I was happy and not a bit tired. From that day until now I am more grateful than I could express in words for the understanding I have of this truth. Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon, which is giving me a spiritual understanding of the Bible, I am being taught how to get rid of malice, hate, irritation, inharmony, evil thinking, and to see God as Love and man as God's reflection. During these three years I have been healed of a serious ailment with which I had suffered since childhood, also of severe headaches and many other ills, and for all that this truth has taught, and is teaching me, I am most grateful.
I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy for our text-book and all her other writings, which show us how to live aright, and my desire is to reflect this truth more each day, and so prove my sincerity. I am also very grateful to our Publishing Society for the Sentinel, Journal, and all our periodicals. Each time they come they meet a need for me. I am also thankful for our church services, and all that has helped me to an understanding of Truth.
