[Written for the Sentinel.]

THE PRACTITIONER

He dips, and gives from out the well of Truth
A quenching draught, when straightway life and youth
Quicken to being, as the springtime shoot
Stirs all a-tremble in some brown old root.

He draws the garment of a thought divine
Around thee, and all power and strength are thine.
Love is a revelation; doubt and fear,
Shadows which flee as this great light grows clear.
