The whole family on my mother's side, as well as my...
The whole family on my mother's side, as well as my mother, passed away with consumption, and the doctor told my father that he would not keep me till I became a man, but Truth came in time to rebuke this claim of error, and has proved to me that God is my Life, and in Him I have my being.
That Life does not lead to death, was proven to me last July, when I was cured of typhoid fever in a short time. I had not feeling well for a couple of days, and had been eating very little. I came home one evening quite sick, but I thought to care for myself and not ask help, so I read and worked that night, and it seemed to destroy the fear of the fever and I went to sleep before morning. In the morning I seemed to feel all right, with the exception that I was weak. I went to work that morning. Wednesday, but I had eaten no breakfast and by noon I had to come home. I was nearly exhausted, as I had been working before a hot furnace, and it seemed as if my head would burn with the heat.
I tried to telephone to a practitioner that afternoon, but as the telephone was out of order I could not reach the Scientist. I then waited till Thursday noon, and during this time I was up only a few minutes at a time, when I had some one telephone for me. They could not get the practitioner, so I dressed myself and went about five miles on the car to her home. I was in a high fever when I reached there, and she had me stay at her house, which was much better for me, as I was boarding with people that were not Scientists. The result of the work was seen immediately, although the fever was high for a few days, and then error tried to manifest itself in chills, but they were checked each time and did no harm. My bowels then gave trouble, but my strength was in God, and in less than two weeks I was out around the house.
