Nothing can longer keep me from publicly acknowledging...
Nothing can longer keep me from publicly acknowledging Christian Science as my salvation. I had always thought much about God, and had tried to live a life consistent with my understanding of Him, but I found no joy, no satisfaction, and life was one long struggle to be happy and contented.
To outward appearances, it seemed that I could do anything I wished, but I knew no one, with seeming health, more limited by laws of materia medica and hampered by self-consciousness and fear, which kept me from excelling in any accomplishment.
Christian Science was brought to my notice by an aunt whom I visited, but I was not ready to see that the religious belief I was in was not the final revelation of Truth, and I was proud of an ancestral line of physicians.
