When healing is done gradually through recognizing the power of Christ, — Truth, — it impresses one as wonderful; but when this same power heals a severe malady instantancously, it seems like the so-called miracles of old.
A few weeks ago a cold asserted itself, with severe pain and inflammation. After some hours of work endeavoring to meet the trouble myself, without success, a practitioner was sent for, who came, and saw at once the necessity for immediate help. After a few moments' recognition of the healing power of Truth, the work was done, instantaneously. The demonstration was so quick that it held me in reverential silence for a moment, wondering. My first words were, "Now we do know that Christian Science is the Christ-Truth that heals!" The beauty of this demonstration was the sweet assurance and peace that followed.
During the eight years of my assiduous study in Christian Science, many errors have been overcome gradually. But this first experience in instantaneous healing seems to impel the writing of this testimony. It is only one experience among hundreds that have come to others through recognizing the power of Truth to heal, and which ought to prove the work of Christ's presence, "with signs following" in this century.
