Republic Journal
Stiles McMullen, the aged man who walked here from some town in Vermont last summer, continues to appear, it seems, and startle people with his wonderful age record. Here is something from the Gorham Mountaineer in regard to the aged traveler:—
"Isaac Woodsum of this place, while stopping at the Line House, Hereford, P. Q., last week, met an old gentleman 105 years of age, Stiles McMullen, born at St. Albans Bay, Vt., July 10, 1796. Mr. Woodsum says the old gentleman is hale and hearty, and does not appear to be more than seventy-five. He is cutting his third set of teeth, and among other things told Mr. Woodsum that he shook hands with President Washington.
