Things to be Done
Under the above heading the Christian Register enumerates things to be done for the advancement of the world during this century. We republish its excellent summary:
1. A ship canal somewhere between North and South America. All nations will use it, and will come into closer and more friendly relations because of it.
2. The great arid tract which lies between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains to be irrigated, and homes provided for happy millions. With sufficient water the desert would blossom like the rose. Under government control the work can be carried out, so that the expense incurred will be returned, and no part of the country taxed for the benefit of another part.
