Feeling as I do I can no longer refrain from giving testimony of one of the most remarkable cases of healing through Christian Science that has come to my knowledge. For more than forty years I have been afflicted with eczema on my legs. Sometimes it would spread over parts of my body, and at one time attacked my face, breast, and arms. No tongue can express what I have endured. I have taken large amounts of medicine, have been examined by some of the best specialists of various schools, only to be disappointed. Finally the claim planted itself on my right leg between knee and ankle. The leg became ulcerous, was swollen to twice its normal size, and the itching was intolerable. I called on one of the most intelligent specialists within my reach, and after examination he told me he could do nothing for me. I went to my place of business somewhat discouraged, but not hopeless.

The next day a dear brother of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, called on me, gave me some literature, and finally induced me to abandon material remedies, which I did with a rather good will, for I was tired of them. I at once took treatment and advice from the members of the Second Church. My condition grew worse, and at times I was terribly discouraged, but learning that this was common, and was "chemicalization" in Science parlance, I persevered. After two or three weeks a marked change took place, and gradually the claim disappeared, but it took about fifteen months of work and encouragement from the faithful ones, and steadfastness and faith on my part to get me so in touch with truth as to bring about this deliverance, and to-day I am entirely healed, my leg having resumed its normal size and the skin, which was much discolored and scarred, is clearing up. Oh, what can I say to express my gratitude to the dear ones who were so kind to me, and through whom I have been relieved from such suffering as I had endured during those long forty years? I have been a member of one of the leading churches for more than fifty years and am now past seventy-three. I have often asked ministers when the healing portion of the commission ceased, and was generally told, "When the last apostle passed away," but I could never find any Scripture to support that thought. May the good Lord bless the faithful Discoverer of Christian Science and all her loyal followers, is my prayer.—McJ. W., Joplin, Mo.
