The Text-Book

ALL Christian Scientists and friends of Christian Science will read with great pleasure the following in reference to the increasing circulation of our beloved text-book in the public libraries, as well as these multiplying manifestations of its widening influence:—

A little more than a year ago it was my privilege, through the generosity of a friend of Christian Science, to place a dozen copies of the later editions of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy, in our Public Library. There were in the library at the time these were added, ten copies of our text-book, some dating as far back as 1886, and all in circulation. Quite recently I learned that the demand was greater than the supply, the twenty-two copies proving insufficient. Upon inquiry I received the enclosed letter from the assistant librarian, and have arranged to place six more copies as a gift from the same generous donor.

This is one of the many instances of the signs of the times, proving that the study of Christian Science is fast destroying prejudice. I well remember the indifference with which some of the earlier copies were accepted, and they were often found on the shelves. Within the last four months three copies were added to the Mercantile Library, another of our large circulating libraries. These copies were also received in a very kindly manner, and prompt acknowledgment made by the librarian.
