I am grateful for one thing in Christian Science
I am grateful for one thing in Christian Science. Before becoming Christian Scientists we were taught that man was totally depraved, and that it was natural for him to go downward. Now the teaching is the opposite. It is natural and right for us to go upward, and although we may not always be able to prove this, yet we can begin. This leads us to a logical conclusion in regard to what we all did before becoming Scientists, that is, the tendency we had to emphasize this total depravity. Especially in our neighbors; if we saw them do something wrong, it seemed to be natural, instead of going to them, to go to our neighbors and tell them of it, thus emphasizing the total depravity. In Science it is the opposite. If we tell our neighbors what we hear of evil, we are making a reality of it, rolling it as a sweet morsel underneath the tongue. But if we go to him personally, that will help him. Christian Scientists also understand that if they talk of their neighbors in a wrong spirit they are offending God.
