From Darkness into Light

SICKNESS brought me to Christian Science, and healing led me to accept this Science for my religion. And now, after eight years of experience, I can truly say that I have found Christian Science to be a religion that satisfies and saves; a religion that heals not only physically, but morally and spiritually; a religion that does not promise happiness only in the future, but gives it right here, in this present life, where it has been thought it could not be found.

Again and again I have witnessed the most convincing proofs of the divine influence and power of Christian Science, and I believe in this Science because, after having seen what I have seen, I cannot believe in anything else. After a life of twenty years of sickness and misery, of infidelity and atheism, Christian Science has brought me into a new life of perfect health and happiness, and above all, has given me a God whom I can worship with a heart full of love and gratitude.

Concerning sickness, my story would be a long one if told in detail, but briefly stated, it was pain and suffering one day, suffering and pain the next day, and doctors and drugs all the time and for all kinds of troubles, chief among them being dyspepsia, which tormented me for nearly twenty years. Without God and without hope of any help from above, the doctors were my only possible saviours, but they were saviours that could not save. I was treated by many of them, and to give an idea of the quantities of medicines I took during those many years would be an impossible task.
