Among the Churches
First Church of Christ, Scientist, held their first services in the new chapel on Eighth Street, Sunday, August 4. Since this is not considered a permanent church building the exercises were not in the nature of a dedication, but consisted of the usual form of service with the addition of brief remarks by each of the Readers.
The room was beautifully decorated with palms, growing ferns, and golden rod, producing a pleasing effect against the pure white walls.
During the early part of the service the choir rendered most acceptably that glorious anthem, "Jubilate Dei," and later Mrs. Lee Long sang a solo, "By the Waters of Babylon." Her sweet and perfectly cultivated voice added greatly to the beauty of this ideal service.
