Love Restores Harmony

I desire to express my gratitude through the Sentinel for what the understanding of Christian Science has done for me, and also our whole family. Although I have only been in the Science three years, Yet I have had many demonstrations to make, as almost every statement seems to call for immediate proof.

One day our cat was sitting before the open grate, and a live coal snapped out and lodged in the fur under the breast. I immediately extinguished the flame, and in so doing the coal adhered to the palm of my right hand, burning it quite severely. In my excitement I did not know the coal was in my hand until I saw a blue flame. I instantly shook off the coal and realized what I had to do. Our little five-year-old boy was standing near and witnessed the whole thing; he immediately said, "Mamma, you know God is the only power, and there is no sensation in matter!" and I replied, "Yes; that is true." We worked together for about ten minutes. The burning sensation ceased and I did my usual housework without any inconvenience. There was not a particle of swelling, inflammation, or soreness in the hand, and there is not a scar to be seen. To us all it was a beautiful demonstration of the nothingness of matter and the allness of God.

Perhaps it might be of benefit to some one to hear how this part of the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy, p. 322, "Divine Love is reflected in love," helped to strengthen our little boy and also change the attitude of one of our neighbor's workmen.
