The article in The Times of September 25, regarding Christian Science, might have been a good deal stronger than it was.

There are some things connected with Christian Science which I am frank to say I do not as yet understand or comprehend; but that there is a great truth underlying it, I am quite prepared to admit, although I, myself, am not a Christian Scientist. Indeed, there are many things in the natural or material realm that we do not understand or comprehend, and perhaps could not understand or comprehend them were they thoroughly explained to us. Take higher mathematics, for instance. To the vast majority of people that abstruse science is a sealed book. It is said of Macaulay, the great historian, that he was so deficient in that respect he could not comprehend the philosophy of the multiplication table. So we do not need to go to the divine or supernatural realm to indicate how little we know.
