Among the Churches
The opening of the new Christian Science church home last Sunday (July I) was largely attended, nearly every seat in the auditorium being occupied. Delegations were present from Mt. Vernon, Lisbon, Mechanicsville, Anamosa, Springville, and Marengo.
The regular order of the service was followed as conducted in all the Christian Science churches of the land, with the exception that on this occasion there was a brief address of welcome by the First Reader which was in part as follows:—
By request of our Leader, Rev. Mary Baker Eddy, the Christian Science churches have established, and are continuing to establish Christian Science reading rooms. The desire to obey this request brought to view greater possibilities, and the exercise of faith in God and His spiritual means and methods, has given us these commodious and beautiful rooms.
