Among the Churches
A First Church of Christ, Scientist, was organized in Lansing, Mich., January 26, 1899. It is doubtless the youngest church in the city, but none the less progressive.
Its methods are unique, as the subject of money is never mentioned from its pulpit, neither does it resort to fairs, festivals, etc., but is sustained entirely by offerings. It is needless to add that there is no lack, God being the supply.
The foundation of the Christian Science Church is "that laid," namely, Jesus Christ, the healer of sick and suffering humanity. The Wednesday evening meeting consists of Scriptural reading, prayer, and the testimonies of those who have experienced the spiritual and physical healing. It is the theology of Jesus and the spiritual interpretation thereof which is taught in the Church of Christ, Scientist, the healing power of which is ever present at its services, and ever possible among its members.
