In “With big growth for the sharing economy, has it become selfish?” The Christian Science Monitor points out that as much as “the rising generation wants to be part of something more than just making money,” the initial idealism fueling the “sharing economy” is waning in the face of a selfish, “not-as-noble side”—for instance, making personal profit off of public assets such as parking spaces.
