Eye on the world: No under- or unemployment
In “Europe’s migrant crisis: Is it bane or boon to jobs and benefits?” The Christian Science Monitor notes that while many across Europe—where high unemployment plagues several nations—fear that “the influx of migrants will negatively impact jobs and social benefits,” a French economist has found that in his country, “immigrants and locals usually do not compete for the same jobs, but work in a complementary fashion.” However, according to the director of the Institute for Economic Studies Europe, “it’s not that simple…. France’s highly regulatory labor market makes it extremely difficult for immigrants to enter the workforce in a meaningful way…. immigrants essentially get ‘regulated’ out of jobs they would otherwise want.”

Related articles from the Christian Science Sentinel:
In “The source of our employment”: “If God is manifesting in us ‘the infinite idea forever developing itself,’ then there are no dead ends, no interruptions or falling away of our right activity.” And “Our right employment and supply are ... found in God, unending Life, which is forever unfolding all that Life has for us, in its perpetual completeness; they’re found in divine Love, which is always opening up for us the full activity and abundance of good. So we are never separated from our right employment or from Love’s compassionate care and provision, which never cease.” And “Our God-given capacities are forever in demand, because God eternally demands that He be fully manifested. God can never be under-expressed, so we can never be under-employed in expressing Him.”
In “Useful employment”: “... putting into practice our real selfhood, with all of its spiritual, Godlike qualities, is natural and normal for us to do. Selfless service to our Maker brings blessings and develops in us a greater usefulness in whatever type of work God has for us.” And “We can’t be God’s image, or expression, and not have opportunities to express Him. God’s law requires an avenue for us to apply our talents productively. Our unique talents will be gratefully received where they are most needed, because God’s infinity does not leave anyone lacking or in want.”
