Eye on the world: For peace in Jerusalem

In an article titled “Fresh eyes on Jerusalem’s stubborn impasseThe Christian Science Monitor observes that what has typically been viewed as an insoluble problem—the status of Jerusalem’s Old City and access by Jews and Muslims to their respective sacred sites—might be solvable now. A new report from the International Crisis Group offers bold solutions, including access for all communities. The Monitor notes that the report “even quotes the late King Hussein of Jordan who suggested sovereignty over the site be assigned to God, not just one religion, with Israelis, Jordanians, and Palestinians charged with working out the details.” By bravely coming together through religious dialogue, the Monitor says, peace could be achieved.
