Service

Give me to serve, dear Lord;Though humble be the task,If it but serveth Thee,'T is all I ask.
In the morning, radiant morning,When Truth's sunlight shines on me,Bright with splendor, warm and tender,Lord, I will rejoice in Thee.

Sunrise

I Saw , in early morning, when the dewWas dripping from the tender bloom of May,And moist-winged birds soft fluttered to the day,The stars grow dim and tremble from the blue,As shadows passed and twilight rosy grew.

A City Set upon an Hill

Fair city set upon an hill!Thy healing light cannot be hid!A beacon in a darkened world,Performing deeds the Master did.

Had I the Mind of Christ

Had I the Mind of Christ,How changed the world would be!No longer then would sin or fearWithin my heart strange phantoms rear; But I would feel Love's presence near,Had I the Mind of Christ.

Songs in the Night

When purple shadows deepen in the vale,And twilight darkens into dusky night,When earthborn mists envelop hill and dale,Oh, let my thought in song take upward flight.

Hope

The steadfast anchor holds your ship, wind-swept,Wave-tossed, unswerved from its appointed placeThrough the long tempest's night, till welcome mornBreaks on the untroubled sea.

Companionship

What would I ask of Thee in prayer that ceases not,O Love divine?

Christ-Healing

O Thou who hearest ere we call,     Wilt heed the pray'r of my desire; In loving mercy over all,     Wilt chasten as with cleansing fire,—     Wilt chasten as with fire!

Protection

I heard an angel singing in the night,—The night of doubt, confusion, and dismay:Fear not! Thy God is with thee; thou art His.

Give Me an Understanding Heart

Give me an understanding heart,O Lord,—this is my prayer;Thy healing strength would I impart,To ease earth's weary care;Clasp Thy kind hand,And understand;Ah—this my prayer.
