My Daily Prayer

That I may glorify Thy name and TheeBy some slight gift of love or charity,Whate'er my mortal sense of need may be—This is my prayer.

Our Task

FOR every tear there is a smile somewhere; For every sigh, a song of sweetest cheer; For every sorrow, healing in God's love; For every fear, the thought that He is near.

THE day I faced toward my Father's house I turned away from mortal blandishments, And after each day's travel pitched my tents Toward Patmos.

Because We Love

YOU did not know him, Though you thought you did, And bowed to him and smiled.

I Will Not Doubt

I WILL not doubt, though evil claims to slay me, Though enemies still hate and friends betray me; For in the darkest hour Love still surrounds me, And routs the error that no more confounds me.

Wash Thou My Feet

WASH thou my feet, dear Lord, for now it seems That every step with mire of discontent, Self-love, self-pity, and discouragement Drags heavily; but thou dost lead where streams Of cleansing waters flow that can remove All stain or trace of mire with purifying love.

The Lesson-Sermon

HE read the lesson through, And pondered every phrase; Then went about his work, His thoughts all filled with praise—

A Prayer

Guard Thou my lips,That I may speak no illOf anyone; And may I strive to fillWith love the hoursThat I must spend to-dayWith those who burdens bearAlong life's way.

Upward Ways

O God, whose loving tendernessUpholds Thy children,Whose "still small voice" of peaceWith tranquil beauty quiets all my fear,Oh, help me to knowThat Thou art ever near.

Victory

We lift our thought to Thee on high;Father, we know that Thou art nigh—Thou never wilt forsake.

Progress

Shine in, O Truth, shine in!To human consciousnessReveal, destroy, the root of sin,And fill with righteousness.

Our Hand in Thine

Father , no human touch we crave; No human voice to still our fear.
