My Prayer

Oh, wondrous inner flame that lights my way,That guards my every faltering step and guides,That ever in my heart of hearts abides,And gives me rest and comfort day by day.

Communion

Up to the infinite source of our being,Faith is ascending, triumphant, today;Bright are its visions of God, ever present,Lifting our thought from the clod and the clay.

Still with Thee

When I awake I am with Thee,And know the nothingness of dreamsAs through a glass I darkly seeThat matter is not what it seems.

Glorified

I have so often thought of him—That man of old who was born blind,Who never once had seen the dawnPour down the dusky purple hillsLike liquid gold spilled slowly fromThe brimming goblet of the sun;Who never once had watched unfoldThe petaled beauty of a flower,Or seen the pearly lovelinessA new moon forms against the night.

Today

This is the day the Lord hath made—Blest revelation,That each glad moment unafraidHolds our salvation.

Truth's Reappearing

Into a world forlornA promised babe was born,Brought forth because the fireOf Israel's great desireTo know God's surety,Was wed to purity.

Reality

Only the good is real.

Judaean Song

The western sun went down in goldThat night in Palestine; The woolly sheep slipped to their fold,The softly moving kineDropped down behind their shelter barsWhile shepherds watched beneath the stars.

Desire

Fashion my heart to love, dear God,That I may blessThe lonely ones who yearn for loveAnd tenderness.

The Secret

Life holds a song to fill the heart,Where sorrow dwelt before.

Expectation

I make my prayer, and quietly waitThe answer which must surely be;God's purpose holds no angry fate,His loving voice will speak in me.
