"Giving and hearing"

In the Christian Science Society of which the writer is a member this statement is made from the pulpit at each Wednesday evening meeting: "These meetings are held for the purpose of giving and hearing testimonies as to the re-generating and healing power of Christian Science.

Expectation

A very common word is expectation, but it has a significance which should contribute to the understanding that Christian Scientists may have of their privileges and the rewards of their well doing, also of the duties which are antecedent to these desirable attainments.
It is the hour of sacrifice.

In a recent issue a clergyman, who discussed "The End of the Age and How to Meet It," makes reference to Christian Science and forms of theosophy and Buddhism, with the same lack of warrant that is found in the implication that Christian Science has gained its hold in the world through "woman's susceptibility.
The June issue of The Star refers to the indorsement of compulsory health insurance by the New York State Federation of Labor.
Now that the Boston Herald and Journal has reviewed a book containing an attempt by a doctor of divinity to discredit Christian Science healing, I wish to offer a brief comment and a pertinent quotation from a clergyman whose attitude toward Christian Science is more intelligent.
