In the Christian Science Bible Lesson

Prayer is like feeding a bird

With stillness, patience, and presence, I am not missing anything. I am meeting new insights that arrive on the wings of inspiration. I experience fresh hope, and welcome with an open heart the healing ideas that bring mental and physical transformation.

Truth still sets free

It may seem that technology, which is so often helpful in improving our lives but can also be used for criminal and hurtful purposes, far outstrips Jesus’ methods. But, in fact, the truth that Jesus preached and practiced is still fully effective in this age.
Every time the fear arose that I would not regain full mobility, I challenged that suggestion until I had annihilated it, replacing it with a calm trust in God’s omnipotent ability to maintain my activity and freedom.

Make demands on Love

Out of despair, I had challenged my view of what I thought God could do. A truly tough trial resulted in a higher understanding of God’s unchanging love for me and the restoration and exaltation of all the good I thought I’d lost.

Love helped the wren

After she finished singing the hymn to the bird, Mia didn’t feel upset anymore. She told her mom how she had prayed.
The reason that God doesn’t step into a physical world and fix things is that it’s not needed. Christian Science teaches that God and God’s manifestation—including each of us—are the entirety of existence. Everything real and good is already present and intact.

The view that matters

The only view that is genuine and worthy is God’s view. We can identify God’s view and thoughts by what they communicate to us and by how they make us feel. Divine thoughts communicate our and everyone’s oneness with God, good.

Learning to float

As I let my understanding be upheld by divine Love, the answer came: I was not the one who was responsible; God was. Immediately I relaxed. I waited, trusted, “floated.”

How can I feel motivated?

He was behind on his work and stressed about his grades. How did this high school student turn his academics around? Read on.
I had been trying to “apply” spiritual truths to improve whatever needed improving. What I truly needed was to accept (really accept) the Bible’s revelation that life, substance, and intelligence are in and of God, Spirit—and that everyone’s real individuality is entirely spiritual.
Once my husband and I had two boys and one girl, I figured all I had to do was go ahead and have that second girl. Sound a little willful?
The powerful spiritual fact of “God with us” is a solid basis for praying about loneliness.
