The correspondent whose letter appeared in a recent issue of your paper, headed "Methods of Healing," showed a pronounced ignorance of Christian Science when he designated it as a "mind cure," and grouped it with faith-cures at shrines, and with hypnotism and spiritism or spiritualism.
It
is recorded in John's Gospel that when Jesus was told that his friend Lazarus was sick, he replied, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
In
carefully considering Christian Science treatment and comparing it with the manner in which Jesus overcame all forms of evil and disease, we find that our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has discovered and revealed, for the practical use of every earnest seeker, the same Christly methods as were used by the Master.
When
the argument of hard times or lack confronts the Christian Scientist, he begins to realize the utter falsity of the argument by turning to the contemplation of spiritual fact, fact which reveals God as the ever present source of abundance, and man as continually surrounded by and living in the fullness of God's protection, love, and goodness.
