Christian Science introduces the teaching of the All-in-all of God; that is, that God is Spirit, and man is His expression or likeness, and follows this with the instruction that its adherents must deport themselves according to such understanding of God and man, in order to work out their salvation.
I have taken great pains to investigate and talk with persons who have been the objects of some wonderful cures, and to talk with the person who has treated them, so that I might be able to say, in some sense, that I had a personal knowledge of the cases.

In talking to those who are seeking help in Christian Science, an expression of anxiety is sometimes heard in this wise: "I have been helped in Science so much, but there is one ailment that has not yielded, although I have striven hard to overcome it.
When mortal man comes to understand that the only road leading to heaven is that of right thinking, he will realize the need of working out his own salvation accordingly.

An Interesting Letter

The following extract from a letter of John C.
Much depends in this life upon one's ability to see things.
Whatever may be believed about Christian Science in the form of an objection, it is at least free from the charge of inconsistency, Therefore to take a word, or partial sentence, here and there from its text-book, and construct from that a garbled and obnoxious mis-statement of its teaching —thus alleging inconsistency —is to remind one of the story of the fratricide who pleaded Biblical authority for his deed, and when asked to furnish it, pointed out a passage in Genesis which reads, "Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and slew him," and from Luke another which reads, "Do thou likewise.
I want to say that there is power in prayer, and that we have a God who can answer prayer.
