"A new record in world Scripture distribution was announced at the annual meeting of the American Bible Society in New York on May 13. According to the report of the Board of Managers to the annual meeting, the United Bible Societies, representing worldwide distribution by the fellowship of 50 national societies hit an all-time high of 173,478,568 Scriptures in 1970. This new record represents an increase of 28,177,702 over the previous year" (Comment, Massachusetts Bible Society).
