Safe in the mountains

Since childhood, I have loved wilderness areas, where I can get away from distractions and be alone with my thoughts. These places provide opportunities to think through problems and gain new inspiration.

One day, while running on a remote trail in the mountains, I suddenly felt my head swirling. When I regained consciousness, I found myself curled up in a ball on the ground in the middle of a silent prayer. Immediately, I felt a connection with God. I could not recall starting the prayer and thought that I must be receiving divine assistance.

I’ve learned in Christian Science that God is Principle and Truth and is not dependent on our declaration of spiritual truths for existence. The truth already exists, and we bear witness to it, naturally hearing and seeing what is true as well as expressing it as God’s children.
